OLATHE, Kan. (KCTV) – Four of Johnson County’s largest public school districts hired a law firm and threaten to sue the State of Kansas over school funding.
The Kansas Public School Funding Coalition announced on Tuesday, August 11, that it hired Lathrop GPM to represent the districts. The firm will be responsible for preparing potential legal action. The coalition claims the state failed to meet its legal obligations to fund K-12 public education and special education.
The Coalition was formed earlier this year by Blue Valley Schools, the De Soto School District, Olathe Public Schools, and the Shawnee Mission School District. Together, the four districts represent more than 83,000 students in the metro area…
