‘Free e-bike’ shop owner dares feds to charge him

DENVER — The owner of a bike shop that promised “free e-bikes” though a Colorado state tax credit has a message for federal prosecutors.

“You guys are dragging this on too long,” Takuma Hagood said in an interview with Steve On Your Side on Monday. “Just f—ing charge something, so we can go to court and we can let a judge see what’s going on, and we let a jury decide if what we did was incorrect that you guys are accusing us of.”

The federal government posted a public notice last month that in May, the FBI had seized assets and cash worth more than $500,000 from Hagood, his associates and his bike shop Bear Trail Bikes, including a Lamborghini, a Range Rover and a Mercedez-Benz vehicle.
