RTC set to launch systemwide transit changes on August 23 across Southern Nevada routes

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) is gearing up to launch its systemwide transit service changes on Sunday, August 23.

The changes will introduce a new bus rapid transit line, revised routes, updated schedules, and a new safety reporting tool.

See below for more on the upcoming changes.

Systemwide Route & Schedule Adjustments

To streamline travel times and adjust for traffic, ongoing road construction, and Clark County School District bell time changes, the RTC is modifying multiple key routes, including:

  • Centennial Express (CX): Restructured to reduce service duplication. It now runs express service every 30 minutes between BTC and SSTT with new access to the Resort Corridor back-of-house. Connections to the airport and UNLV are available via BTC or SSTT.
  • Route 202 (Flamingo): Reverses its west-end loop west of Fort Apache Road.
  • Route 206 (Charleston): Continues its long-term detour between BTC and Maryland Parkway due to ongoing construction.
  • Route 207 (Alta/Stewart): Stays on Alta Drive, bypassing Pinto Lane. Nearby routes and the new RED LINE offer alternative service.
  • Route 209 (Vegas/Owens): Runs every 30 minutes east of Buffalo Drive to match ridership demand.
  • Route 221 (Cactus/Horizon Ridge/Boulder City): Uses a faster, more direct westbound path near Nevada State University.
  • Route 401 (North Outlets/Symphony Park): Runs one bus between 11:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., adjusting frequency to every 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Formula 1 Adjustments: Routes 119, 202, 203, and the Deuce on the Strip will temporarily pivot to special schedules during Formula 1 race week to accommodate bridge installations and track traffic.
