Tamarac homeowners can seek up to $85,000 for critical home repairs this September

Tamarac, Florida – For Tamarac homeowners facing a failing roof, aging air conditioner or dangerous electrical problem, September could bring a rare chance to tackle repairs that might otherwise be out of reach.

The city will open applications for its Owner-Occupied Minor Home Repair/Rehabilitation Program at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, offering qualified residents as much as $85,000 in assistance. The application period lasts only through Sept. 14.

The program is designed for owner-occupied homes with health, safety, accessibility or code-related problems. Eligible projects can include roof replacement, HVAC replacement, plumbing and electrical corrections, impact windows or doors and accessibility improvements for elderly residents and households with special needs…
