FOLLY BEACH, S.C. (WCSC) — The City of Folly Beach is considering an ordinance that would regulate drone use on the beach, with a focus on safety for residents and visitors.
Mayor Chris Bizzell said the proposal grew out of safety concerns.
“A safety-oriented approach, and that’s how we came up with the ordinance we have going up tonight,” he said.
From drone fishing to general safety
Last month, the city council proposed an ordinance specifically targeting drone fishing. Bizzell described the activity as “dropping bait, that type of thing, near swimmers, pulling large fish through swimming areas with surfers getting tangled in lines.”…
