Brett Bloom, founder of Dirt Wain, has spent the past seven years building his food-scrap composting business in northeast Indiana, and it seems he’s only just getting started.
After starting with just six households in one neighborhood in 2019, Dirt Wain’s footprint now covers multiple northeast Indiana communities.
In his estimation, the business represents a fight against the status quo: the often-invisible trash systems, billion-dollar waste companies, and public indifference that make composting feel like a luxury rather than the necessity he believes it to be.
