The 2026 Iowa State Fair begins tomorrow and there are several entries headed to the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines from Greene County youth.
According to Greene County ISU Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Samantha Johnson, 31 static exhibits, five for communication and three fashion entries have qualified for the State Fair from this year’s Greene County Fair. She is thrilled to see the entries that qualify representing Greene County at the State Fair.
“And those are numbers that are set by the state on how many we can send. We get a quota from the State Fair based on our enrollment numbers. So, it uses enrollment from last year. So, we do see that increasing next year which is something exciting as our enrollment grows. But, we sent as many projects as we could onto the State Fair this year to represent Greene County.”
Additionally, Johnson notes there are 124 livestock and animal entries from 4-H’ers as well…
