PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — It ended up being bad timing for a suspect thief after a Good Samaritan spotted him trying to steal a car in downtown Portland early Tuesday morning.
The heroic rideshare driver spoke with KOIN 6 after he saw a man breaking into a woman’s vehicle along SW Morrison while she was at the gym just before 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Gabriel Lopez works as an electrical engineer and a part-time barber. He also is a Lyft driver who was out driving early Tuesday morning and took a break near Morrison Street.
“I had my seat kicked back. And I saw somebody kind of scoping out the block and it kind of like weirded me out a little bit,” he said. “That’s when I had heard a crash…”When I pulled around the corner, there happened to be a guy kind of like diving out the back of stuff and what it looked like. He had a backpack in his hands.”…
