BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Local law enforcement agencies were recognized at the state level this week for their response to the June hostage situation and bomb threat that occurred in downtown Bakersfield.
On Monday, leaders from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office and Bakersfield Police Department, along with FBI Sacramento’s Acting Special Agent in Charge Brian Tosh, were recognized by the California State Senate “for the bravery, decisive action and commitment to protecting the people of Kern County,” FBI Sacramento said on its Facebook page.
Officials worked to secure the area, evacuate nearby buildings and communicate with the suspect. All 10 hostages were able to return home with no physical injuries…
