SOUTHFIELD — Two men have been charged in relation to a July 19 incident at a Southfield gun store, one of whom is a store employee.
On July 19 at Action Impact, located at 25992 Eight Mile Road in Southfield, Marquise Massey, 33, allegedly requested to look at a Sig Sauer semi-automatic pistol and a Smith & Wesson revolver. Action Impact employee Thomas Beck, 67, allegedly placed both handguns on the counter, and then Massey allegedly grabbed both firearms, ran out of the store and left the scene in a stolen 2017 Ford Escape. Beck pursued Massey on foot, according to police.
Based on interviews with Beck, law enforcement initially believed that Massey had fired shots at Beck while fleeing. Law enforcement located three bullet casings at the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Centralia in Redford Township.
While reviewing the investigation on July 20, law enforcement reportedly learned that Beck had allegedly fired shots during his foot pursuit of Massey, which contradicted information he allegedly gave investigators. Allegedly, Beck had returned to the store and removed a different handgun from the display wall and exchanged it with the one he had during the pursuit of Massey. He then allegedly placed the handgun he used into an office drawer before police arrived on scene.
Massey was arrested at approximately 5 p.m. on July 21 in the area of the M-10 service drive and Pembroke Avenue. During the arrest, law enforcement obtained the Sig Sauer handgun. Law enforcement also obtained the 2017 Ford Escape and its key…
