NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — A tree fell on THRIVE Peninsula’s box truck in Newport News during the severe weather that affected Hampton Roads Monday, according to a post from the nonprofit organization on Facebook.

On Aug. 10, a tree fell on the truck and two other vehicles in the nonprofit’s parking lot at 12749 Nettles Drive during the weather’s peak.
The nonprofit uses the box truck for tasks that include picking up food, moving donations and delivering supplies. It has confirmed that it has full insurance coverage for the damage done to the car due to the weather.
The nonprofit now asks the public for patience as it navigates the next steps after this incident. It added that some of the parking lot’s trees may need to be removed due to the challenges they’ve presented this year.
