Drivers in northwest Indiana face long lines at the gas pumps following Tuesday storms

GARY, Ind. — Drivers in parts of northwest Indiana faced some long lines at the gas pumps on Wednesday after Tuesday’s storms knocked out power for thousands.

The severe storms swept through Chicagoland on Tuesday, carving a path of damage and leaving thousands in the dark.

Indiana State Police are now asking drivers to fill up before heading into Lake or Porter counties, as the power outages have led to long lines at gas stations as residents look to keep their generators running.
