FORT WORTH, Texas — BNSF will begin offering expanded intermodal service between the Phoenix and Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan areas, the railroad said this week.
The service, taking three days from departure to availability between Phoenix and the Alliance Intermodal Facility about 19 miles north of Fort Worth, is designed to convert freight from truck to rail, the railroad said. It will operate six days a week to support increased demand.
“We’re seeing more customers looking for capacity solutions as we head into the domestic peak shipping season, while continuing to manage their transportation costs,” BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products Jon Gabriel said in a press release. “This expanded service responds to rapidly changing market conditions and offers a solution that combines reliable transit, access to key markets, and the advantages of intermodal transportation.”…
