Fowl Play: ‘Wildwood’ crow statue vandalized days after landing in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. — Less than a week after landing in Portland to celebrate LAIKA’s upcoming animated film “Wildwood,” one crow statue was vandalized.

The vandalized statue, called “Paul Birdyan,” is nested in Pride Plaza. At some point, the crow’s black and red checkered coat was spraypainted with black splotches. There is also blue paint splattered on its beak.

“Paul Birdyan” is one of 30 original works of art installed through a partnership between local artists, LAIKA, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, Wild in Art, the Portland Metro Chamber, Downtown Portland Clean & Safe and the Visit Downtown Campaign…
