ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Alexandria City Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Melanie Kay-Wyatt concluded her service Wednesday, ending her tenure nearly seven weeks earlier than announced, and the School Board named Chief of Staff Dr. Grace Taylor to lead the division on an acting basis.
The board announced the changes after a special called meeting Wednesday evening, saying it and Kay-Wyatt had agreed to modify her separation agreement so that her service as superintendent ends effective Aug. 12, “earlier than anticipated.” The board said it was grateful for her leadership and wished her well in retirement after 30 years in public education.
