Fort Wayne Zoo welcomes giraffe calf to herd

The Fort Wayne Zoo has a new baby male reticulated giraffe, bringing the herd up to seven.

The calf was born August 10 to Faye and Ezeji and is the 22nd giraffe born at the zoo, according to executive director Rick Schuiteman.

The zoo plans to unveil his name at a later date, but in the coming weeks he may begin to gain access to the outdoor habitat where guests will be able to see him. However, the zoo is urging patience as he may choose to remain in his indoor space until he gets more comfortable with the rest of the herd…
