The exit ramp from southbound Interstate 465 to eastbound Interstate 70 was closed on Indianapolis’ east side Tuesday afternoon due to a semi overturning and leaking hazardous materials, leading to one injury.
Now, the City of Lawrence Fire Department has released new details about why the overturned truck was dangerous.
In a Facebook post, the fire department wrote, “The semi was carrying totes of Corrosive organic sodium hydroxide and organic peroxide.”
Three of the five tanks the truck contained were leaking and were able to be contained by the Indianapolis Fire Department.
