Three of five Fellwood Homes shooting suspects were out on bond; gang rivalry cited as motive

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The Chief Judge of Recorder’s Court found probable cause this week to bind 5 suspects over for prosecution.

This follows a July 25th shooting at a community reunion at Fellwood Homes in West Savannah that left 3 people injured.

The defendants — 17-year-old Ja’Quan Cooper; 17-year-old Kaleb Detty; 18-year-old Jamari Fields; 19-year-old Keonte Williams; and 18-year-old Johann Arena-Vasquez — all face charges stemming from the shooting, which occurred at approximately 10:35 p.m. in Chatham County. Bond was denied for all 5.

What happened at Fellwood Homes

Detective Skinner with SPD testified that between 80 and 100 people had gathered at Fellwood Homes for a reunion on the evening of July 25th. At 10:28 p.m., a ShotSpotter alert registered two rounds fired from the eastern edge of the area. Witnesses on scene said they believed the sounds were fireworks, and the crowd scattered briefly before regrouping…
