Two small bridges in the Town of Oregon have deteriorated significantly and need to be replaced. Downgraded from 40-ton to 10-ton load capacity ratings, the bridges cannot handle grain trucks and heavy agricultural vehicles that have load ratings of 40-50 tons.
Those large vehicles must take longer alternative routes to avoid the bridges, which are located on Lincoln and Story Town Roads.
Fortunately, the Town of Oregon Road and Safety Committee has received a grant for $157,720 from the State of Wisconsin’s Local Small Structures Improvement Program (LSSIP). LSSIP, which provides 90% of the funding to repair and replace the small bridges. It is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
