DENVER (KDVR) — A 20-year-old man who violently attacked his ex-girlfriend during a home invasion after she reported him for domestic violence is slated to spend the next three decades in prison, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced this week.
A judge sentenced Benjamin Isaiah Lovato to 32 years in prison for the attack that happened in 2024 after Lovato pleaded guilty earlier this year in June to first-degree assault, first-degree burglary (crime of violence), and aggravated retaliation against a witness or victim.
According to the district attorney’s office, Lovato attacked his ex-girlfriend because she had reported his abuse of her to law enforcement and had agreed to testify against him. She had met him when she was 15 years old and was only 16 years old at the time of the attack…
