LANE COUNTY, OR — Two people died after a head-on crash on Highway 58 near Oakridge on Wednesday, according to Oregon State Police. The collision happened near milepost 42 and involved a red Toyota 4Runner and a white Mack truck.
Investigators said the crash happened shortly before 6 p.m. on Aug. 5. Police have not said why the 4Runner moved into the opposite lane.
What Investigators Found
OSP said 25-year-old Colton Zachary Bias of Springfield was driving the 4Runner when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the truck. Marjorie Rae Spence, 40, of Eugene, died at the scene.
Bias was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Police have not released any additional details about what led to the lane crossing.
Others Injured
A second passenger in the Toyota, 38-year-old Kaylee Dail Cardwell of Westfir, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. The Mack truck driver, 60-year-old Collin Mitchell Owens of Springfield, was not hurt…
