Eastover Officials Challenge Fayetteville Over Proposed 300-Megawatt Data Center

Eastover Town Council sent a letter to Fayetteville officials. They oppose plans for a 300-megawatt hyperscale data center near town. Terra Nexus Ventures, a Charlotte-based private equity real estate company, submitted plans for the site on 180 acres along Custer Avenue, according to the Fayetteville Observer.

Lawyers for the council wrote to Doug Hewett, Fayetteville’s city manager, back in July. The letter raised concerns from residents about noise, traffic, light pollution, water use, and electricity use. The proposed site sits in unincorporated Cumberland County but functions as part of the Eastover community, town leaders say.

“It is hoped that the City of Fayetteville will take the strong objections of the Town and the Eastover Community into serious consideration prior to proceeding in this direction,” the letter stated, per the Fayetteville Observer.
