Wilmington City Council names new director of Office of Educational Advocacy

Wilmington City Council has a new director of its Office of Educational Advocacy.

The position and the office were established last year. Dr. Brittany Powell is its second director. The first director left for a position in the administration of Governor Matt Meyer.

Powell has what council members said is a distinguished background in education, literacy, research, nonprofit leadership and community engagement. She is is also founder of a community-based literacy initiative, “Read and Represent.”
