LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A shooting during an average day at work raised questions about how internal complaints are handled inside Las Vegas City Hall. The family of a man allegedly shot and killed in June by his coworker demanded changes be made so it doesn’t happen again.
Ofelia Markarian and Corrine Murphy, co-counsels for the McLean family, held a press conference Thursday to announce their intention to file legal action against the City of Las Vegas following the June 12 shooting death of city maintenance worker Joey McLean, 41.
Las Vegas police arrested McLean’s coworker, Brysen Kim, 31, in connection with the shooting death at a city downtown maintenance services facility, amid an apparent feud. Kim pleaded not guilty to the charges of open murder and burglary while in possession of a firearm in June.
“We are here to ensure that this never happens to another family again,” Murphy said. “One of the layers of tragedies was that Joey was actually a workplace advocate.”…
