Syracuse sees decrease in work-related injuries for city employees

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) — The City of Syracuse is making changes to create safer working conditions for employees by using preventative methods to reduce serious injuries, especially for those in the Department of Public Works.

Pointing the finger at the employee and telling them to stay safe, Lisa Schmidt, the city’s risk and safety manager said, does not actually keep anyone safe.

“Systems were only put in place after the fact, which did nothing for the person who was already injured or hurt,” Schmidt said…
