(WGHP) — Scattered storms could bring very heavy rain and damaging winds to portions of the area tonight and during the first half of the weekend.
The Storm Prediction Center has placed much of North Carolina in a Level 1 risk of severe thunderstorms for tonight. That risk increases to a Level 2 for the Piedmont and points west for Saturday. Damaging winds and flash flooding will be our biggest concerns.
Mandatory water restrictions are in effect for the town of Liberty until Monday
Timing for storms on both Friday and Saturday will be late afternoon into the evening.
High temperatures on Saturday will climb to near 90° with partly cloudy skies. It will remain humid, which will contribute to the chance of strong thunderstorms…
