Suspect arrested in connection with random Aurora shooting on Mississippi Avenue

AURORA | A Commerce City man faces a bevy of felony charges in connection with what appears to be a random shooting earlier this month from a car in central Aurora, police said Friday.

Jose Daniel Ledesma, 35, was arrested Wednesday at his Commerce City home and faces charges of attempted second-degree murder, menacing, possession of a weapon by a previous offender, prohibited use of a weapon, reckless endangerment, violating a protection order and driving on a revoked license, Aurora police spokesperson Joe Moylan said in a statement.

The allegations stem from an. Aug. 3 shooting at the East Mississippi Avenue on-ramp to northbound Interstate 225, investigators said.

Police said a 65-year-old man was stopped in the No. 2 lane of eastbound East Mississippi Avenue at about 6:30 a.m., waiting to turn left onto northbound I-225.
