INDIANAPOLIS — Two Indianapolis metro police officers are recovering after being shot, resulting in a police shooting on the city’s west side Friday afternoon.
Officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded around 2:30 p.m. to the 300 block of N. Fleming Street near W. Vermont Street in response to a reported shooting. The location is across the street from the Thatcher Golf Course and just south of Speedway.
Initial investigation
IMPD confirmed that two SWAT officers sustained gunshot wounds and that they were transported in stable condition to Eskenazi Hospital. The suspect in the shooting, who police confirmed was a man, has since been taken into custody. At this time, police could not provide the name of the suspect.
In an update around 6:30 p.m., IMPD Chief Tanya Terry confirmed that one of the officers has been released from the hospital after sustaining a “superficial” injury that didn’t require any additional treatment…
