CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – The major thunderstorm that crossed the Albemarle County and Charlottesville area around 5:30 p.m. Friday, bringing heavy rain, large hail and high winds, downed trees and power lines and caused at least one fire.
A lightning strike is believed to be the cause of a structure fire at a single-family home in the 1000 block of East Keswick Drive in Keswick around 6 p.m., according to the Albemarle County Fire Department. No one was injured but an adult, a juvenile and two pet dogs were displaced by the blaze.
Saturday morning, the county announced that Darden Towe Park “will remain closed for the immediate future while crews work to safely clear downed trees and debris throughout the park.”…
