INTERVIEW: ‘Spurrier Effect’ authors on legendary coach’s impact on Gamecocks

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) – A new book hitting shelves is chronicling hall of fame coach Steve Spurrier’s decade leading the South Carolina Gamecocks and his lasting impact on the program.

“The Spurrier Effect” will be released Aug. 18, written by Brent Silvia and Kevin Miller. Per a synopsis, the book promises to “reveal the man behind the visor—his partnership with his wife, Jerri, his relationships with his players, and his fierce competitiveness, sharp wit, and unwavering belief in South Carolina’s ability to achieve greatness.”

Spurrier went 86-49 during his decade in Columbia before resigning in 2015. That tenure also brought the Gamecocks to their first SEC Championship Game appearance in 2010…
