DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Drought conditions are improving across the state. Right now, 40 counties are in a moderate drought, including Durham.
But despite the improved conditions, water restrictions are still in place for customers in the Bull City.
“The drought is still ongoing, especially in the northern part of the county where our watershed is,” Durham Water Efficiency Program Manager James Lim said. “We need the rain to fall north of us, not necessarily over the city. And we are still in Stage 2, so we’re asking customers to do what they can to conserve.”
According to Durham Water Management, the city’s reservoirs combined are currently around 54 percent full. Without any improvements, that’s enough water to last about 144 days…
