In 2024, a Rhode Island family brought forth claims that Assistant Medical Examiner Dr. Zhongxue Hua had botched an autopsy.

In 2023, Yolanda Madyun learned that her 55-year-old son, Atif, had been found dead in his home in North Providence and that the autopsy report stated that the medical examiner found his organs were in normal situs; she knew there was something wrong. Her claim was first reported by the Providence Journal.
