As emergency responders continue to evacuate residents in flood zones, the White River peaked early in the morning Aug. 15 at more than 24 feet.
Hamilton County Emergency Management announced on social media that gauges show water levels have started to recede, but cautioned residents that it will take longer for water to go down than it did for it to rise.
“Please continue to use caution around flooded areas,” a social media post stated. “We strongly encourage everyone to avoid driving through roads covered by water. Fast-moving water can hide damage, washouts and debris, making travel extremely unsafe.”
