COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Happy Saturday! Temperatures today rose into the upper 90s. Columbus hit 97 this afternoon, but heat index readings were approaching 110 degrees.
Sunday: This dangerous heat will continue in the forecast, with very little relief in sight. HEAT ADVISORIES are in effect for GEORGIA and ALABAMA through the weekend. Both of these will likely be extended.
- Alabama: Heat advisory until 9 PM CT Monday.
- Georgia: Heat advisory until 8 PM ET Sunday.
Please make sure to stay hydrated and take breaks from the sun if you have to be outside over the next few days.
Next Week: This heat dome will linger through next week. Heat Index temperatures are forecast to get close to 110 degrees (or above) on Monday. Actual highs will be close to the century mark for the start of the week.
Two fronts will bring better rain chances on Tuesday and Thursday. By the end of the week, we will see a slight decrease in temperatures. Highs will cool into the lower 90s with heat index readings just in the triple digits…
