SAN DIEGO (KUSI/FOX 5) — A 34-year-old man died Friday evening while in custody at the San Diego Central Jail, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office (SDSO).
At around 7:20 p.m., a Sheriff’s Deputy was reportedly conducting a security check at the jail when they discovered the 34-year-old unresponsive inside his cell, according to SDSO. Authorities say the man was housed alone inside the cell.
The deputy reportedly immediately requested assistance and attempted to perform life-saving measures. Paramedics and San Diego Fire-Rescue arrived and continued efforts to resuscitate the man, SDSO says.
