Murphy teen identified as recruit who died after Marine fitness evaluation

Marine Corps officials have identified Pvt. Aiden Gregory Craig, an 18-year-old Murphy resident and recent Wylie High School graduate, as the recruit who died four days after experiencing a medical emergency at Camp Pendleton.

Craig experienced the emergency Aug. 1 during a routine physical fitness evaluation at the California military base. He died Aug. 5 at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside, according to Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego.

Craig was assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, and was on his 47th day of recruit training when the emergency occurred…
