Tempe officials will be passing out kits to detect spiked drinks as city adopts new ordinance

This month, Tempe became the first Arizona city to adopt a drink-spiking ordinance. And city officials are highlighting the campaign this weekend by passing out detection kits on Mill Avenue.

“So we want to make sure that people see this as a resource because if no one uses it, we’re not actually increasing public safety. So we want to make sure that the public is well informed of the availability of these testing kits and where they can get them and how they can get them,” Tempe Councilmember Randy Keating said.

Keating says the city is also providing information and testing kits to ASU, whose students are returning for the fall semester this week…
