PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — Drivers who rely on Interstate 5 through Portland’s Rose Quarter should prepare for major delays this fall, with the Oregon Department of Transportation warning that travel times could take two to three times longer than usual during a lengthy construction shutdown.
Southbound I-5 in the Rose Quarter will close for construction on Sept. 11 and remain closed for five weeks. The work is part of the I-5 Rose Quarter Improvement Project, which aims to improve safety and reduce traffic where I-5, I-84 and I-405 converge.
