San Francisco lowers speed limits, increases traffic enforcement around schools

San Francisco is lowering speed limits around schools, increasing traffic enforcement, and continuing to provide crossing guards as students return to class Monday, Mayor Daniel Lurie’s administration announced Friday.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency is expanding 15- and 20-mph speed limits near schools under a state law and plans to phase out 25-mph school-zone limits at more than 230 public and private schools by 2028, a press release noted.
