Silver Alert Seeks 87-Year-Old Marie Brumble, Missing on Foot in Desert Hot Springs

An 87-year-old woman last seen walking near Dillon Road and Corkill Road in Desert Hot Springs has triggered a regional Silver Alert covering five Southern California counties. Marie Brumble was reported missing after being seen at approximately 3:28 p.m. on Saturday in the unincorporated Riverside County community, and authorities describe her as an at-risk missing person believed to be on foot.

The California Highway Patrol activated the alert on behalf of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, according to CHP – Alerts, the agency’s official account for disseminating flyers and details on active alerts. Brumble is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall and about 120 pounds, with gray hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple dress, a straw hat, and a purse with a white strap. Anyone who spots her is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.

The alert itself spans Los Angeles, Imperial, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego counties, a broad reach that reflects how the state’s Silver Alert network is structured. The California Highway Patrol’s Emergency Notification and Tactical Alert Center in Sacramento operates around the clock as the state’s designated coordinator, reviewing requests from local agencies like the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office before pushing alerts out across entire multi-county dispatch regions.

That statute, established under Senate Bill 1047 in 2012, authorizes public notifications for missing individuals 65 or older, along with developmentally or cognitively impaired adults deemed at risk under unexplained or suspicious circumstances…
