CSPD cracks down on organized retail crime

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) led a coordinated enforcement operation targeting retail crime between Aug. 4 and Aug. 7. The effort resulted in 16 misdemeanor citations issued and six new felony charges filed.

The operation was conducted as part of a National Organized Retail Crime Blitz by the department’s Metro Retail Pawn & Metal Theft Unit, supported by Metro Division detectives and patrol officers. Police worked alongside area retailers, who provided information, evidence, and loss-prevention support.
