An investigation is underway following a deadly police shooting in Lower Manhattan on Sunday afternoon.
The NYPD said officers were responding to multiple 911 calls about a slashing when the shooting happened just after 4 p.m. inside an apartment building at 126 Ludlow St., between Delancey and Rivington streets. Police said a man wielding a butcher’s knife advanced toward officers, prompting them to open fire, killing him.
