Alabama man four weeks into Brooks rehab program nine months after traumatic brain injury

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (WALA) – Nine months after suffering a traumatic brain injury from a fall off a ladder, John Peacock is four weeks into an eight-week individualized rehabilitation program at Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital — and his family says he is making progress.

Peacock fell in November. His wife, Alaina Peacock, said he spent nearly a month in a coma before being transferred to Brooks Rehabilitation Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida, where he began showing signs of movement.

Insurance pressure, evaluation setback

The family’s path to continued care has not been straightforward. Alaina said insurance companies pushed the family to leave Brooks. She fought for weeks to keep his treatment on track.
