A tractor-trailer carrying thousands of pounds of squid spilled onto a roadway that had to be closed for over seven hours on Sunday according to NBC affiliate WJAR.
The tractor-trailer tipped over at the intersection of Point Judith and Galilee Escape roads.
Crews were seen using skid steers to remove the squid off the hot pavement.
“Squid has a distinctive odor to it, I’m a fisherman and I use squid for bait. I’m quite used to it, but it can be very foul-smelling especially if it lies on the road and stays there for a while. The fire department is doing a great job cleaning thing up as best they can,” Richard Stevens, a neighbor, told WJAR…
