Police: Woman tried to swallow fentanyl after traffic stop at Marietta gas station

Erin Lynn Pernell, 31, of Perry, and Charles David Floyd, 68, of Flovilla, are accused of possession of fentanyl on July 24 at 9:21 p.m. at the Shell gas station, 2678 Windy Hill Road, Marietta, according to an arrest warrants from the Cobb County Police Department.

Floyd was seen at the gas station driving a 2007 Jeep Patriot. He had an active warrant for a failure to appear charge out of the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. Upon identifying Floyd, police approached the vehicle with emergency lights and detained him. In the car was Pernell, who initially identified herself as Allison Motes. While waiting for dispatch to confirm Floyd’s warrant, police asked for consent to search his vehicle, which he granted, according to the warrants.

While Floyd and Pernell were detained at the front of a patrol car, police found one gram of suspected fentanyl inside a sunglasses container near the center console of the vehicle, along with multiple syringes and burnt tinfoil. Floyd and Pernell were then placed in the back of the patrol car as the search continued. Pernell was seen on camera slipping her handcuffs and placing suspected fentanyl inside of her body, according to her warrant…
