DC man pleads guilty to violent armed carjacking spree across DMV

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A 21-year-old man from D.C. pleaded guilty on Monday to the role he played in committing a series of violent armed carjackings across the District, Maryland and Virginia, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said.

According to court documents, Taurian Anderson started his spree of carjackings alongside his co-conspirators on Aug. 9, 2024. The USAO said that shortly after 12:10 a.m., Anderson took out a handgun, approached a DoorDash delivery driver who was in the 4200 block of East Capitol St. NE and demanded that the driver get out of his car.

Later that same day, around 3:30 a.m., Anderson and one other person approached another car in the 4200 block of Dupont Terrace SE. Evidence stated that they told the driver to get out of the car and leave all belongings behind at gunpoint. The other person got in the car and drove off in it.

Then, on Sept. 7, 2024, around 1:25 a.m., Anderson and the other individual went to Silver Spring in a stolen car. At that time, a driver was parking their car in the 8000 block of Eastern Ave. Anderson and the other individual blocked the car to keep it from moving. When the driver got out of the car, one individual pulled out a gun, pointed it at the driver and ordered him to “get on the ground.”…
