MOBILE, Ala. (NBC 15) — Jonathan Sauers’ attorney informed the court Monday that her client intends to plead guilty to sex charges involving a student. Under the plea agreement, Sauers, a former teacher and soccer coach at Faith Academy, will spend 20 years in state prison.
According to the Mobile County District Attorney’s Office, Sauers has agreed to plead guilty to two counts of a school employee engaging in a sex act with a student under the age of 19, a Class B felony. A third charge of a school employee having sexual contact with a student, a Class C felony, will be dismissed.
The DA’s office says Sauers is expected to formally enter his plea on September 14, when his trial is scheduled to begin. Spokesperson Tara Zieman says the plea agreement means the young female victim will not have to testify…
