Dangerous heat hangs on Tuesday before relief arrives Friday

Columbus, Ga. (WRBL)-The dangerous heat continues across the region Tuesday, with another day of near-record temperatures expected. We reached 100 degrees Monday, making it the hottest day of the year so far and just 2 degrees shy of the record high of 102.

Tuesday will be slightly cooler, but 99 degrees will still be plenty hot. With high humidity factored in, heat index values are expected to climb well above 105 degrees, keeping most areas under another Heat Advisory through Tuesday evening. Extreme Heat Warnings could also be considered if conditions warrant.

The dangerous heat will continue through the afternoon and into the evening, with advisories lasting until around 8 p.m. Eastern and 7 p.m. Central. Once the sun sets and temperatures begin to fall, heat index values will become much less dangerous…
