CLAYTON — When Mardia Jacobs arrives at Blanche Connell’s home, she carries a bag of library materials. Over time, however, her visits have come to deliver something that cannot be checked out from a library shelf: friendship.
Connell is one of nearly a dozen homebound residents served by Hocutt-Ellington Memorial Library’s Books-to-Go program. The outreach service delivers library materials to Clayton residents who cannot regularly visit the library because of illness, accidents, transportation challenges, disabilities or other mobility issues.
