City of Chandler to hold public meeting on planned utility rate increase

The city of Chandler announced that it is planning to increase utility rates in response to higher operating and capital costs.

Under the proposal the following increases would be seen:

  • Water: 9%
  • Wastewater: 6.5%
  • Reclaimed water: 9%
  • Solid waste 4.5%

The city said that residents who use 10,000 gallons of water per month would see their costs raise by around $5.73 a month. It also provided a calculator that residents can use to estimate how their utility bill will be impacted based on their usage.

The rate changes come as chemicals and electricity, which are essential to providing community members with safe drinking water and treat wastewater, continue to see higher costs.
